The drilling tools are accommodated by the spindle via corresponding tool interfaces, such as the hollow shaft taper (HSK) or the quick-release taper (SK). This is done manually or automatically via a clamping system, which is operated by a hydraulic, pneumatic or electric release unit. Drilling spindles are primarily designed according to the axial loads resulting from the drilling process.
